Each time you say, “I am ….” you create and strengthen your identity. Have you experienced a trauma that caused you to become more anxious and are you telling yourself and others that you are an anxious person, then this becomes your anxious personality and your identity. And every time you tell yourself you are an anxious person, you reinforce your identity
You know deep inside you that you do not want to be an anxious person and you want to get rid of the unpleasant emotions and experiences that come with it. This means that you must change one or more personality traits and thus your identity and this is scary in itself. Because what’s happening to you when you’re not the person everyone around you identifies you with? Transformational Meditation is a tool that is highly effective in creating such changes in a liberating manner.
